Quellenkunde der Geschichte des preußischen Staats: Urkunden-Repertorium für die Geschichte des Preußischen Staats. 2

Published in the mid-19th century, this volume serves as a critical scholarly resource for the study of Prussian administrative and legal history. Karl Kletke, an archivist and historian, compiled this repertory to organize and index vast quantities of primary source documents and charters, thereby providing researchers with a systematic roadmap through the complex state archives of Prussia. It was created during a period of intense focus on professionalizing historiography and archival science within the German academic tradition.

The design of the work reflects the rigorous, encyclopedic standards of Prussian scholarship from the 1850s, emphasizing utility and structured documentation for researchers of legal and constitutional history. Kletke focused on creating a clear, cross-referenced inventory of historical records rather than a narrative text. Upon its release, it was regarded as a necessary reference tool for institutional libraries and legal scholars, valued for its commitment to archival transparency and the methodical preservation of Prussian bureaucratic history.
