This volume is part of the ambitious series titled Raccolta di tutti gli antichi poeti latini colla loro versione nell'italiana favella, an eighteenth-century endeavor designed to make the foundational texts of classical Latin literature accessible to a broader Italian readership. Published in Naples during the mid-to-late 1700s, the collection reflects the intellectual climate of the Enlightenment, where the systematic translation of the classics into the vernacular was seen as a vital pursuit for cultural elevation and education.

This specific ninth volume focuses on the works of the Roman poet Quintus Horatius Flaccus, presenting his Epistles and Satires. The editorial approach taken here blends historical translations—such as those by Lodovico Dolce—with contemporary revisions by Francesco Borgianelli and the editor Parmindo, who sought to correct deficiencies in earlier versions and realign the text with the nuanced original Latin intent. The volume exemplifies the era's scholarly dedication to preserving the spirit of Horace through the structural elegance of the Italian terzetto form.
