Richard Wagners geistige Entwickelung: Versuch einer Darstellung der Weltanschauung Richard Wagners mit Rücksichtnahme auf deren Verhältnis zu den philosophischen Richtungen der Junghegelianer und Arthur Schopenhauers. Die Weltanschauung Richard Wagners in den Grundzügen ihrer Entwickelung. 1

Published in the early 20th century, Hugo Dinger’s comprehensive study serves as an analytical exploration of Richard Wagner’s intellectual evolution. The work situates the composer within the complex intersection of mid-19th-century German philosophy, specifically examining the influence of Young Hegelian thought and the later, profound impact of Arthur Schopenhauer on Wagner’s worldview.

Dinger’s meticulous approach reflects the academic rigor prevalent in German musicology and philosophical criticism of the era. By tracing the development of Wagner's conceptual framework, the author sought to provide a definitive account of how the composer’s aesthetic theories were inextricably linked to the broader intellectual movements of his time, making the volume a significant reference for students of both opera and Western philosophy.
