Where it came from
Rororro! is a comedic manga series created by Norio Sakurai, serialized in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion beginning in 2016. The story centers on a young girl named Roro who discovers an ancient, clumsy mummy in her room, leading to a series of surreal, slapstick interactions. It occupies a distinct space in the 'yuru-chara' and supernatural comedy genres, reflecting Sakurai's signature style of blending eccentric character designs with deadpan humor.
Sakurai designed the series to subvert typical tropes associated with horror or supernatural entities by emphasizing the mundane and awkward aspects of the mummy's integration into modern domestic life. The work was generally well-received for its tight comedic pacing and expressive art style, serving as a notable precursor to the author's later massive success with The Dangers in My Heart.
