Where it came from
Saike Mata Shite mo, known in English as Psychic Saike, was authored and illustrated by Fukuchi Tsubasa. Serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 2014 to 2017, the series emerged during a period where Fukuchi was refining his signature blend of supernatural themes and character-driven humor, following his previous success with The Law of Ueki. The narrative centers on a young man who gains psychic powers after a near-death experience, exploring the ethical and social complications of wielding such abilities in everyday life.
The design of the series reflects Fukuchi's distinctively clean, expressive art style, which emphasizes kinetic paneling and clear character silhouettes to heighten the impact of its supernatural action sequences. Upon its release, the manga was noted for its grounded take on the shonen genre, moving away from high-stakes grandiosity to focus on the personal growth and moral dilemmas of its protagonist. It has maintained a steady reputation among fans of the magazine for its cohesive world-building and balanced narrative pacing.
