Where it came from
The Law of Ueki Plus was serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday starting in 2005 as a direct sequel to Tsubasa Fukuchi's original supernatural battle series, The Law of Ueki. Created to capitalize on the popularity of the predecessor, the series shifts the narrative focus to new characters while retaining the core premise of teenagers granted unique combat abilities as part of a celestial competition for the throne of the Celestial World.
Fukuchi’s design for the series emphasizes dynamic, fast-paced action sequences that lean into the shōnen genre conventions of the mid-2000s. While the original series was praised for its creative power system, the sequel faced the common challenges of maintaining thematic novelty, and it remains a documented chapter in Fukuchi's evolution as a mangaka before he moved on to subsequent works like Saiki Kusu and Daidai wa Hantōmei ni Nikkō ni Fureru.
