Samuel Beckett: roman, théâtre, images, acteurs, mises en scène, voix, musiques

This volume was published to provide a comprehensive, multidimensional perspective on the literary and theatrical universe of Samuel Beckett. Compiled and edited by Pierre Chabert, a scholar and director noted for his intimate knowledge of Beckett's stagecraft, the work was designed to bridge the gap between the written text and the performative reality of the author's vision. It emerged from a period of intense critical interest in the late 20th century, serving as a pedagogical and artistic reference for those seeking to understand the synthesis of language, movement, and silence in Beckett's oeuvre.

The design of the collection functions as an archive of Beckett's multidisciplinary legacy, incorporating elements of theater, music, and performance practice. Chabert sought to document how Beckett’s writing resists simple interpretation, favoring a collaborative approach that includes insights from actors and directors who worked directly with the playwright. The book is recognized in academic circles as a vital resource for scholars and practitioners alike, valued for its rigorous documentation and the thoughtful way it contextualizes the evolution of Beckett's austere aesthetic across different media.
