San Yue San -March-

San Yue San -March- is a series produced by the independent creative collective known as Star Club. Emerging from the vibrant landscape of underground independent publishing, the work reflects a specific movement in contemporary illustration where creators seek to blend cultural folklore with modern, stylized aesthetic sensibilities. The series focuses on the traditional celebration of the third day of the third lunar month, reinterpreting the imagery of spring festivities and seasonal transitions through a lens of curated, evocative graphic storytelling.

The design of the volume emphasizes a minimalist approach to complex cultural motifs, prioritizing clean lines and deliberate color palettes to establish a distinct visual identity for Star Club. The work was conceived to serve as both a visual archive and a creative commentary on the persistence of traditional themes within modern artistic media. Upon its release, it gained traction within specialized art book circles and among collectors of independent graphic novels, noted primarily for the cohesion of its art style and the thematic consistency maintained across the collection.
