Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - Chorus of Cicadas (Doujinshi)

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - Chorus of Cicadas is a fan-made doujinshi volume created by the artist known as Shangai Man. Emerging from the vibrant and prolific doujinshi scene surrounding Koji Kumeta’s satirical manga series, this work serves as an unofficial expansion on the dark humor and chaotic social commentary that defines the original franchise.

The volume illustrates the artist's engagement with the series' signature aesthetic, blending the grim absurdity of the source material with personal stylistic interpretations. As with much of the high-quality fan work produced in Japan's independent markets, such volumes are typically distributed at events like Comiket, where they act as niche tributes that allow creators to explore darker or more experimental narrative threads within established, beloved universes.
