Shiritsu! Bijinzaka Joshi Koukou

Shiritsu! Bijinzaka Joshi Koukou, authored by Mayumi Yokoyama, was serialized in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine beginning in 2004. The series emerged during a period of significant popularity for shojo manga, focusing on the vibrant and often chaotic dynamics of an all-girls private high school. Yokoyama utilized a clean, expressive art style characteristic of the era's romance-centric publications to depict the protagonist's navigation of school life and interpersonal relationships.

The narrative follows a typical shojo progression, balancing lighthearted humor with the earnest emotional stakes of adolescent discovery. While the series maintains a relatively contained scope compared to broader industry hits, it is well-regarded by collectors of 2000s-era shojo for its consistency and the archetypal charm of its characters. Its reception was largely centered within the dedicated readership of Bessatsu Margaret, solidifying its place as a representative work of Yokoyama's bibliography.
