Where it came from
Shirojishi no Kodomo-tachi, or Children of the White Lion, is a manga series authored by Natsuko Takahashi. Emerging from the landscape of mid-1980s Japanese shojo manga, the work reflects the period's interest in emotive, character-driven storytelling, often characterized by delicate line work and an emphasis on the psychological development of its youthful protagonists.
The series is representative of Takahashi's broader stylistic approach, which frequently explores themes of innocence and resilience. As a product of the competitive magazine serialization culture of its time, the manga was designed to resonate with adolescent readers through its evocative imagery and grounded, if idealistic, narrative arcs. While not a widely canonized masterwork in the global sense, it remains a recognized artifact of 1980s manga output.
