Sithrah

Sithrah was created by independent cartoonist Jason Brubaker, who launched the project as a self-published webcomic in 2013 before successfully funding its transition into a series of high-quality printed volumes. The story follows a young girl named Nim who awakens in a mysterious, sprawling world, blending elements of high fantasy, surrealism, and adventure. Brubaker designed the work to be a visually immersive experience, utilizing a unique, painterly aesthetic that emphasizes atmospheric world-building over traditional comic paneling structures.

The physical volumes are noted for their large format and meticulous production quality, which were intended to showcase Brubaker’s expansive, widescreen-style layouts. By leveraging crowdfunding, Brubaker maintained complete creative control, allowing him to focus on the intricate environmental storytelling that defines the series. Upon its release, Sithrah garnered significant attention within the indie comics community for its technical ambition and distinct departure from mainstream superhero or manga tropes, earning praise for its imaginative scope.
