Where it came from
Released by IDW Publishing in 2021, this one-shot special was produced to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Miles 'Tails' Prower, who first appeared in the 1992 game Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The issue serves as a tribute to the character's legacy within the Sonic franchise, capturing his evolution from a sidekick into a capable hero and inventor in his own right.
The comic was written by Ian Flynn, a long-time architect of the modern Sonic comic book continuity known for his deep understanding of the character lore. The narrative was designed to highlight Tails' ingenuity and his enduring bond with Sonic, aiming to celebrate his character growth over three decades of gaming and media history. It was well-received by the fanbase for its nostalgic tone and focus on the character's core personality traits.
