Where it came from
Taihou to Stamp, written and illustrated by Hayami Rasenjin, is a seinen military-comedy manga that was serialized in Kodansha’s Evening magazine starting in 2003. The series focuses on the daily operations of a fictionalized military bureaucracy, primarily following a young female officer as she navigates the mundane and often absurd administrative hurdles of life within an army's logistics and artillery division.
Rasenjin is well-regarded for his meticulous attention to historical detail and technical weaponry, which he balances with a dry, observational humor regarding institutional inefficiency. The work is noted for its idiosyncratic art style and its departure from typical action-heavy military manga, choosing instead to emphasize the paper-pushing, red tape, and social dynamics of life behind the front lines, ultimately receiving a dedicated cult following for its niche subject matter.
