The Hamlin Family: A Genealogy of James Hamlin of Barnstable, Massachusetts, Eldest Son of James Hamlin, the Immigrant, who Came from London, ENgland, and Settled in Barnstable, 1639. 1639-1902

Published in 1902, this volume was compiled by Henry Franklin Andrews, a dedicated genealogist who sought to document the extensive lineage of James Hamlin, an early settler who arrived in Barnstable, Massachusetts, from London in 1639. The work emerged during a period of heightened interest in American colonial ancestry and lineage societies at the turn of the 20th century, serving as a foundational resource for descendants tracing their heritage back to the arrival of the Mayflower-era settlers and their contemporaries.

Andrews designed the genealogy with a rigorous focus on primary documentation, including public records, church logs, and family papers to ensure the historical accuracy of the Hamlin family tree. By cataloging descendants over the span of two and a half centuries, the volume provided a structured, readable, and enduring reference for historical research. It was received within the genealogical community as a definitive scholarly effort, frequently cited by later historians and archivists studying the demographic development of Cape Cod.
