The Mind of Robert Louis Stevenson. Selected Essays, Letters, and Prayers. Edited by Roger Ricklefs

Published in 1963 by The Heritage Press, this volume represents a carefully curated anthology of Robert Louis Stevenson’s non-fiction, including his personal essays, selected correspondence, and private prayers. The collection was designed to provide a deeper look at the moral and philosophical underpinnings of an author more commonly celebrated for his adventure narratives like Treasure Island and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Edited by Roger Ricklefs, the selection emphasizes the introspective and humanistic dimensions of Stevenson's writing.

The book reflects the mid-century tradition of high-quality literary reprints for which The Heritage Press was renowned. Its physical design prioritizes legibility and durability, consistent with the publisher's goal of creating affordable 'classics' for home libraries. While it does not feature the elaborate illustrations found in some of the press’s limited editions, the volume remains a sought-after piece for bibliophiles interested in the literary criticism and spiritual reflections of the late Victorian era.
