The Royal Hampshire Regiment: Regimental History

The Royal Hampshire Regiment: Regimental History, authored by Christopher Thomas Atkinson, serves as a comprehensive account of the lineage, traditions, and military engagements of the Royal Hampshire Regiment. Published in the mid-20th century, the volume was intended to preserve the institutional memory of a unit with deep roots in British military history, tracing its evolution from its early formations through the global conflicts of the 1900s.

Atkinson, a historian noted for his commitment to regimental archives, wrote this work to provide soldiers and veterans with a definitive narrative of their service. The design reflects the scholarly and somber aesthetic typical of official regimental histories of the era, prioritizing detailed documentation and factual accuracy over decorative flair, which has led to its enduring status as a primary source for military historians and descendants of regiment members.
