The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Need: Large Print Edition

The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Need is a central installment in Deborah Wilde’s urban fantasy series, which centers on the protagonist Nava Katz, a chaotic and relatable demon hunter living in modern-day Vancouver. This large print edition was produced to increase accessibility for readers, reflecting the author’s commitment to inclusivity within her independent publishing strategy. The series emerged during the height of the indie urban fantasy boom, characterized by a move away from traditional gatekeeping and toward direct engagement between authors and their specific niche audiences.

The design of the series leans into contemporary genre aesthetics, prioritizing bold typography and illustrative covers that emphasize the protagonist’s irreverent personality. Deborah Wilde’s approach to the series focuses on blending humor, supernatural stakes, and personal growth, a balance that helped the books cultivate a loyal, long-term following. By releasing large print editions, the publisher aimed to ensure that the physical reading experience remained comfortable and accessible without sacrificing the visual identity that defines Wilde’s catalog.
