The Works of Gilbert Parker: Embers. a Lover's Diary

Published as part of the Imperial Edition of The Works of Gilbert Parker, Embers: A Lover's Diary reflects the literary output of a Canadian-British novelist who enjoyed significant popularity at the turn of the 20th century. Parker was widely regarded for his romanticized depictions of Canadian frontier life, and this particular volume represents his foray into more intimate, lyrical prose. The edition was carefully curated to solidify his legacy as a prominent author of the Edwardian era, capturing the sentimental tone prevalent in the literature of that time.

The production design of the Imperial Edition focused on an aesthetic of refined, classic bookmaking intended for home libraries of the period. These volumes were typically bound with high-quality materials and featured ornate decorations, reflecting the era's appreciation for craftsmanship in publishing. While critical reception of Parker’s work has largely faded over the last century, these editions remain significant examples of the publishing standards of the early 1900s, serving as a material record of the literary tastes of a bygone generation.
