Where it came from
Tokyo Revengers, written and illustrated by Ken Wakui, began its serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2017. The series follows Takemichi Hanagaki, a man who gains the ability to travel back in time to his middle school years, attempting to alter events to save his high school girlfriend from a criminal syndicate. This sixth volume continues the 'Moebius' arc, focusing on the complex power dynamics and internal conflicts within the Tokyo Manji Gang.
Wakui designed the series to blend high-stakes street gang drama with sci-fi elements, drawing inspiration from his own experiences in his youth. The series garnered significant critical acclaim for its character development and intricate plotting, eventually becoming a global cultural phenomenon. Volume 06 serves as a pivotal entry, further establishing the emotional stakes of the narrative as the protagonist struggles against the inevitability of the timeline he is trying to rewrite.
