Where it came from
The Tokyo Revengers (Official Colored) series is a digital-first initiative by Kodansha that re-presents Ken Wakui’s original hit manga with a full-color palette. Launched to leverage the global explosion in popularity following the anime adaptation, the project aims to revitalize the high-tension narrative of delinquent brawls and time-travel stakes by enhancing the visual impact of the characters' stylized fashion and distinct hair colors, which are hallmarks of Wakui's character design.
The coloring process is handled by a dedicated production team working under Kodansha's editorial supervision to ensure the aesthetic remains faithful to the gritty, emotional tone of the source material. While the black-and-white original is celebrated for its dynamic paneling and sharp ink lines, the colored edition is marketed to collectors who want a premium, immersive reading experience that brings the intensity of the Tokyo Manji Gang's battles to life in vibrant hues.
