Upsala universitets matrikel, utg. af J. von Bahr och T. Brandberg

The Upsala universitets matrikel, edited by J. von Bahr and T. Brandberg, represents a significant undertaking in documenting the academic and administrative history of Uppsala University. Published during a period when the institution sought to formalize its historical records, these volumes served as essential directories for faculty, staff, and alumni. They reflect the university's commitment to maintaining a structured chronicle of its intellectual community, providing a snapshot of the academic landscape at the time of their compilation.

The design and editorial approach favored by von Bahr and Brandberg emphasized rigorous archival standards and clarity, typical of the scholarly publishing tradition in Sweden during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These works were intended primarily for academic reference and institutional use, aimed at preserving the lineages of scholars and students. While they are now primarily consulted by historians and genealogists, their reception among contemporary researchers remains positive due to the meticulous detail provided in the lists of personnel and historical data.
