We Are Mauna Kea Ku Kia'i Mauna: Hawaiian Pride Journal / Notebook / Diary Gift - 6"x9" - 120 Pages - White Lined Paper - Matte Cover

This journal was published by Hawaii Publishing in 2019 to provide a tangible space for reflection and advocacy regarding the Mauna Kea movement. The item emerged during a period of intense public discourse surrounding the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope on Mauna Kea, a site held sacred by many Native Hawaiians. The design incorporates the 'Ku Kia'i Mauna' slogan, which translates to 'Guardians of the Mountain,' reflecting the protective stance taken by the protectors who gathered on the mountain to advocate for cultural preservation and environmental stewardship.

The publication serves as a commemorative piece of stationery intended for those aligned with the Kū Kiaʻi Mauna movement. Its design, featuring a matte cover and standardized lined interior, prioritizes utility and accessibility, allowing it to function as a personal diary, organizational tool, or notebook for recording thoughts related to Hawaiian history and activism. As part of a wave of literature and merchandise released during the height of the protests, it represents a grassroots effort to disseminate cultural pride through everyday functional objects.
