Protect Mauna Kea Ku Kia'i Mauna: Hawaiian Pride Journal / Notebook / Diary Gift - 6"x9" - 120 Pages - White Lined Paper - Matte Cover

This journal was published by Hawaii Publishing in 2019, emerging during the height of the Kū Kiaʻi Mauna movement. This period saw widespread protests and community mobilization against the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope atop Mauna Kea, a site considered sacred in Native Hawaiian culture. The publication reflects a surge in print media dedicated to documenting and supporting the Kiaʻi—the protectors—and their advocacy for environmental and indigenous sovereignty.

The design of the notebook prioritizes utilitarian function paired with symbolic resonance. By featuring the Kū Kiaʻi Mauna imagery, the cover serves as an expression of solidarity with the protectors. The production format—a standard 6"x9" lined notebook—was intended as a versatile tool for supporters to record their personal reflections, organize activism, or document their perspectives on the cultural preservation efforts that defined the movement.
