Yofukashi no Uta - Rakuen-hen

Yofukashi no Uta, known internationally as Call of the Night, is a manga series created by the artist Kotoyama. The series debuted in 2019 and quickly gained a following for its unique atmospheric depiction of nocturnal urban life, shifting away from the intensity of the author's previous work to focus on the contemplative and melancholic interactions between a disillusioned schoolboy and a vampire. The Rakuen-hen, or Paradise arc, represents a critical narrative shift in the series as the plot deepens the philosophical conflict surrounding humanity, immortality, and the nature of desire.

The visual design of the series is defined by Kotoyama's distinct aesthetic, which emphasizes high-contrast lighting, neon-drenched cityscapes, and expressive character silhouettes. The artistic direction was crafted to mirror the surreal and dreamlike quality of the characters' nighttime adventures. Upon its release, the series was well-received by readers for its evocative sense of place and its ability to blend slice-of-life storytelling with supernatural themes, solidifying its place as a modern staple within the seinen manga genre.
