Your Memes Are Better Looking Than You

Your Memes Are Better Looking Than You is a compilation volume by the artist Mao Qiu Qiu, emerging from the vibrant subculture of Chinese digital webcomics. It was created to curate and showcase the internet-born humor and stylized observational art that defined a specific era of social media expression. The collection functions as a bridge between transient online content and the permanence of print media, reflecting a shift in how digital creators sought to document their influence through physical compilations.

The design of the volume mirrors the aesthetic of contemporary web-based visual storytelling, emphasizing accessibility and the fast-paced, irreverent nature of meme culture. Mao Qiu Qiu utilized a minimalist and character-focused illustrative style intended to resonate with younger digital natives who engaged with their work on platforms like Weibo and Douban. Upon its release, the volume was received as a nostalgic snapshot of internet discourse, garnering attention for its ability to capture the fleeting irony of its time within a tangible format.
