Yu☆Gi☆Oh! 5D's

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's began its serialization in V Jump magazine in 2009, serving as a companion piece to the long-running animated series of the same name. Written by Masahiro Hikokubo, who was also the duel script writer for the anime, the manga offers an alternative narrative set within the same thematic universe of Turbo Duels and Synchro Summoning. It captures the high-stakes intensity of the franchise while pivoting focus to a unique rivalry between Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas within the context of a competition called the D1 Grand Prix.

The manga's visual identity, illustrated by Masato Sato under the supervision of Kazuki Takahashi's studio, adheres to the established aesthetic of the series while introducing original character designs and distinct card archetypes. It was generally received as a successful expansion of the 5D's brand, praised by fans for its streamlined storytelling and its ability to provide a darker, more concise interpretation of the anime's core conflicts. Over the course of its nine-volume run, it solidified its place as a staple of the franchise's print media portfolio.
