Where it came from
ZOMBIES is a collection of short-form manga vignettes authored by Oono Kousuke, who is widely recognized for his unique ability to blend mundane domesticity with the absurd. Published by Shinchosha, this work emerged as a showcase of the author's signature dark humor and visual pacing, predating the immense international success of his later hit series, The Way of the Househusband.
The design of the collection centers on a series of disconnected, high-concept gags involving the undead, rendered in Oono's precise and expressive illustration style. While the work is relatively compact, it serves as a critical foundational text for understanding the author's stylistic evolution, demonstrating the meticulous attention to detail and comedic timing that define his body of work within the modern seinen manga landscape.
