Zoroku’s Strange Disease, or Zoroku no Kibyo, is a seminal work by the influential horror manga artist Hino Hideshi, first published during the mid-1970s. Hino is widely regarded as a pioneer of Japanese horror manga, known for his unique ability to blend visceral body horror with profound themes of alienation, social ostracization, and the grotesque. This volume reflects his signature style, which emerged from the underground gekiga movement that sought to move beyond traditional shonen narratives to explore darker, more psychological dimensions of storytelling.
