The character was conceptualized during a period when manufacturers were experimenting with translucent plastics and internal light-piping technology to simulate the eerie glow of creatures found in the abyss. It served as a tactical, shark-inspired mascot designed to emphasize the aggressive aesthetic that defined the Deep Dangers aesthetic.

The design was credited to the studio's internal creature design team, who aimed to move away from the traditional, rounded toy aesthetic of the time in favor of sharp, jagged lines and asymmetrical armor plating.
