Chew

The Azure Sea's Seven series was developed as a limited-edition expansion for the established Azure Sea trading card game, released to capitalize on the franchise's expanding narrative lore. This specific card, Chew (OP14-050), was introduced as part of a promotional cycle designed to highlight secondary characters, moving away from the primary protagonists that dominated the core deck lists. The expansion aimed to provide players with more versatile tactical options, focusing on thematic synergy rather than purely raw power.

The character design was crafted by the studio's internal illustrative team, who sought to capture a distinct oceanic aesthetic through the use of vibrant, fluid brushwork and a cool-toned color palette. Upon its release, the card was generally well-received by the competitive community for its unique ability set, which allowed for unconventional board control strategies. While it was not a centerpiece of the meta, it remains highly regarded by collectors for its specific place in the OP14 release window.
