Provenance

Where it came from

The DON!! card is a foundational element of the One Piece Card Game, debuting with the ST-01 Straw Hat Crew starter deck in 2022. Designed to function as the game's primary resource system, these cards represent the 'Don!!' power mechanic, which players attach to characters to boost their offensive and defensive capabilities. The inaugural Super Pre-Release edition cards were produced to generate early momentum for the game, featuring a distinct, high-contrast aesthetic that emphasizes the franchise's iconic logo and kinetic energy.

The design of the card emphasizes clarity and utility, utilizing a bold typographical approach to ensure the mechanic remains instantly recognizable during fast-paced play. Because the ST-01 deck served as the introduction for both new players and collectors to the game mechanics, the inclusion of the DON!! card was crucial for establishing the game's identity. It was well-received for its minimalist, functional design, which allows it to blend seamlessly into various deck themes while maintaining the visual standards of the larger Bandai trading card catalog.
