Provenance

Where it came from

The DON!! card is a foundational element of the One Piece Card Game, first introduced alongside the game's launch in 2022 to provide the core resource mechanic for player decks. It was designed by the development team at Bandai to mimic the visual aesthetic of the series, featuring the iconic 'DON!!' sound effect lettering that signifies explosive power and impact in the manga. These cards serve as the currency of the game, used to power up characters and activate special abilities during play.

Conceptually, the design team aimed to integrate Eiichiro Oda’s signature kinetic art style into a functional card layout, ensuring the imagery felt authentic to the Source material. The card was distributed in starter demo decks as a way to onboard new players and demonstrate the fundamental energy system of the game. It was received positively by the community for its simplicity and the way it successfully captures the high-energy spirit of the One Piece universe.
