Gecko Moria

Gecko Moria (OP06-086) is a character card from the Wings of the Captain expansion, released in 2024 as part of the One Piece Card Game. This set focuses heavily on the Thriller Bark arc and the Straw Hat Pirates, recontextualizing Moria's role as a major antagonist who commands the zombies of Thriller Bark. The card serves as a high-utility piece in the meta, reflecting the character’s ability to manipulate shadows and resurrect fallen allies, which is central to his tactical identity in the manga.

The card’s design employs the dynamic, vibrant aesthetic characteristic of the series’ trading card art, emphasizing Moria’s imposing, bloated silhouette and dark, macabre color palette. The illustration captures his menacing presence and his penchant for shadow-based combat. Upon its release, the card was widely received by competitive players as a staple for black-colored decks due to its powerful effect of playing lower-cost characters from the trash, bridging the gap between his lore-accurate necromantic powers and the game's strategic mechanics.
