Gecko Moria

Gecko Moria (OP09-085) was released as part of the Emperors in the New World set, which served as a milestone for the One Piece Card Game’s 2nd Anniversary. Designed to commemorate the expansion of the game’s meta, these tournament-specific cards were created to highlight pivotal antagonists from the series' history. The card design leans into the gothic, eerie aesthetic of the Thriller Bark arc, utilizing high-contrast character art that emphasizes Moria’s imposing silhouette and his unique shadow-manipulation abilities.

The card was produced as a competitive reward to incentivize participation in high-level organized play during the anniversary season. Its reception among the player base has been largely driven by its mechanical utility within the black deck color archetype. As an iteration of a major villain, the card reflects the ongoing effort by the design team to bridge iconic character moments with the strategic, resource-management style of play established in the game's later sets.
