Provenance

Where it came from

Hody Jones, the antagonist of the Fish-Man Island arc, was released as a leader card in the EB-02 Anime 25th Collection for the One Piece Card Game. This specific release served as a commemorative set celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise, featuring character art that emphasizes his role as the vengeful leader of the New Fish-Man Pirates. The card mechanics reflect his aggressive, self-destructive ideology, requiring the player to sacrifice their own life points to empower his offensive capabilities.

The card design utilizes dynamic, high-contrast character art typical of the later series expansions, prioritizing a menacing depiction of Hody Jones that captures his extremist personality. As a leader card, it represents a specialized playstyle within the card game’s metagame, focusing on high-risk, high-reward strategies. It was released to appeal to both competitive players looking for niche color combinations and collectors interested in thematic representations of One Piece villains.
