Where it came from
The Imu leader card, appearing in the 'Carrying On His Will' expansion for the One Piece Card Game, draws its inspiration from the enigmatic ruler of the World Government in Eiichiro Oda’s long-running series. Released as part of the game's ongoing efforts to integrate deep-lore narrative beats into competitive play, this alternate art variant highlights the character's mysterious presence and overarching influence on the series' geopolitical landscape.
The design of this card utilizes high-contrast aesthetic choices characteristic of the premium alternate art tiers within the set, emphasizing Imu’s silhouette and the eerie atmosphere associated with the Empty Throne. The illustration serves to evoke a sense of dread and authority, aligning with the character's role as the primary antagonist behind the series' global status quo, and has been received by players as a centerpiece of the set’s visual identity.
