Where it came from
The Jozu card, identified as OP02-008, was released as part of the promotional series for the One Piece Card Game, which launched globally in late 2022. This specific iteration is associated with the 2023 Championship tournament circuit, serving as a highly coveted reward for competitive players who participated in high-level regional events. The design draws directly from the Paramount War arc of the original manga, capturing the Whitebeard Pirates' commander in a dynamic, defensive stance consistent with his 'Diamond' ability.
The visual direction for the promotion cards typically utilizes high-fidelity art sourced from the One Piece universe, emphasizing the bold, vibrant aesthetic established by Eiichiro Oda. These championship-stamped versions are distinguished by unique holographic foiling and specific event branding, which set them apart from the standard-set releases. Within the hobby, these cards are valued by collectors for their scarcity and their status as markers of the game’s burgeoning organized play scene, which has seen rapid growth since its inception.
