Where it came from
The Koby character card (ST06-002) was released as part of the 2023 promotional campaign for the One Piece Card Game. These promotional cards were distributed through specific organized play events and retail initiatives designed to bolster interest in the game's budding competitive scene. As a parallel version of the card originally featured in the Absolute Justice starter deck, this release focused on providing players and collectors with an alternative art aesthetic to enhance deck customization.
The design of this card maintains the visual identity of the series, drawing directly from Eiichiro Oda's character style. It depicts Koby, a prominent figure from the One Piece narrative who transitions from a timid cabin boy to a courageous Marine captain. The promotional variant was intended to highlight his growth and commitment to justice, appealing to fans of the source material while serving as a functional, sought-after staple for players utilizing the Navy-themed deck archetypes.
