Where it came from
The Koushirou card (OP12-027) was released as part of the Legacy of the Master event series within the One Piece Card Game. These cards were specifically produced for tournament and promotional use, intended to reward participants and high-performing players during organized play events. The card draws its imagery directly from the anime and manga source material, focusing on Koushirou, the master of the Shimotsuki Dojo and the mentor who famously shaped Roronoa Zoro’s path as a swordsman.
The design of the card emphasizes a minimalist, character-focused aesthetic characteristic of the broader series' promotional sets. By centering on supporting characters who hold significant narrative weight, the design team sought to honor the mentor archetypes within the franchise. Upon release, it was well-received by collectors and deck-builders alike, primarily for its role as a functional tool in tactical gameplay and as a commemorative piece for fans of the early East Blue story arc.
