Where it came from
Mamaragan (Alternate Art), cataloged as OP15-078, was released within the Adventure on Kami's Island expansion. As an event card, it serves as a staple of the set's mechanical framework, designed to provide players with specific strategic utility during gameplay. The card draws its thematic inspiration from the lightning spirit of the same name, reflecting a broader effort within the set to integrate mythological figures into the game's competitive landscape.
The alternate art variant was developed by the studio's in-house illustration team to provide a more visually dynamic interpretation than the standard version. By utilizing a high-contrast color palette and dramatic framing, the designers intended to emphasize the chaotic energy of the character. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its aesthetic departure from the original, establishing it as a sought-after piece for collectors focusing on premium card variants.
