Provenance

Where it came from

The Monkey.D.Dragon (OP07-015) card was released as part of the seventh expansion set for the One Piece Card Game, titled Emperors in the New World, which debuted in early 2024. This set focuses heavily on major figures shaping the political landscape of the series, with this specific card highlighting the leader of the Revolutionary Army. As a 'Special' (SP) rarity, this version of the card is distinguished by its unique artistic treatment, intended to appeal to collectors seeking high-end variants of pivotal characters.

The design of the SP variant emphasizes the mysterious and commanding nature of Monkey D. Dragon, utilizing premium foiling techniques to elevate the character's presence. These special illustrations are commissioned by Bandai to provide a more cinematic or stylized representation of the series' lore, diverging from the standard gameplay art. Upon its release, the card was received with significant interest within the trading card community, primarily due to the character's rarity in official merchandise and the overall collectability of the 'Emperors' set.
