Where it came from
The Shiki card (OP06-073) from the Premium Booster The Best Vol. 2 is a strategic reprint within the One Piece Card Game, featuring the legendary antagonist from the film One Piece: Strong World. The card was released to provide players with updated access to powerful character cards, maintaining the high-quality card stock and foil treatments characteristic of the Premium Booster lines. It captures the formidable presence of Shiki the Golden Lion, a character designed by series creator Eiichiro Oda specifically for the tenth One Piece film, embodying the era of the Great Pirate Age prior to Roger's execution.
The design of this iteration draws from the iconic aesthetic established in the Strong World feature, emphasizing Shiki’s distinct gravity-based abilities and his imposing stature. The illustration process for this set focused on reinforcing the card's competitive viability while honoring the rich lore of the character’s history. Upon release, the card was well-received by the player community for its thematic depth and its utility in specialized deck builds, serving as a functional piece of art that bridges the gap between the film’s narrative legacy and the game’s tactical meta.
