Shiryu

Shiryu, indexed as OP16-108 in the 'The Time of Battle' expansion, is a character card drawn from the expansive One Piece Card Game based on Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga series. Released to coincide with the ongoing narrative developments in the Egghead arc, this set focuses on pivotal confrontations and the high-stakes power dynamics between the Marines, the Blackbeard Pirates, and the Straw Hat crew. The design utilizes signature character illustrations typical of the series’ aesthetic, emphasizing the formidable and ominous nature of Shiryu of the Rain as a member of the Ten Titanic Captains.

The card was designed to integrate into the black-color archetype, reflecting Shiryu’s stealth-based abilities and his role as a tactical combatant within Blackbeard’s hierarchy. Like other cards in the series, it is intended for a competitive trading card game environment where mechanical utility and thematic flavor are balanced to appeal to both long-time fans of the manga and TCG enthusiasts. Its reception has been largely defined by its utility in specific deck builds that rely on removal mechanics, cementing its status as a sought-after piece for players building competitive Blackbeard-themed decks.
