Shiryu

The Shiryu card, numbered OP02-076, was released as part of the Paramount War expansion for the One Piece Card Game in early 2023. Drawing directly from the narrative of the Marineford Arc, the card depicts the Blackbeard Pirates' sniper, Shiryu of the Rain, shortly after his introduction as a former warden of Impel Down. This set was designed to capture the high-stakes intensity of the conflict between the Whitebeard Pirates and the Marines, introducing key antagonists who shifted the balance of power in the series.

The card features artwork consistent with the game’s aesthetic, which prioritizes dynamic, manga-accurate portrayals of characters. As a character card, Shiryu was developed to support the Purple color identity, focusing on mechanics that interact with the Don!! card system to reflect his ruthless combat style. Within the competitive meta, the card is recognized for its utility in removing lower-cost character cards, an effect that mirrors the character's cold efficiency and lethality during his brief but impactful appearances in the source material.
