Where it came from
The card 'There's No Authority in the World That Lasts Forever!!!' (OP17-055) originates from the One Piece Card Game, a strategic trading card game launched in 2022 to celebrate the long-running manga series by Eiichiro Oda. Released as part of the 'Awakening of the New Era' (OP05) expansion, which focuses on iconic narrative arcs from the series, this event card is designed to represent a pivotal thematic moment. The card draws its name and imagery directly from the source material, capturing the high-stakes political and revolutionary tension that defines the series.
The visual design features artwork reflective of the series' signature aesthetic, emphasizing the dramatic and emotive character portrayals synonymous with Oda’s work. Within the competitive landscape of the game, the card is recognized for its utility as a 'counter' or action card, allowing players to manipulate the battlefield in ways that mirror the unpredictable nature of the One Piece world. Its inclusion in the set reflects a broader intent by the developers to weave significant narrative beats into the mechanics of the game, ensuring that players engage not just with card statistics, but with the overarching story of the Straw Hat pirates.
