Where it came from
The 'Tom' character card, designated OP13-069, originates from the 'Carrying On His Will' expansion set within the One Piece Card Game. Released as part of the game's ongoing efforts to represent the expansive roster of characters from the Water 7 story arc, this card features the iconic shipwright Tom, known for his mentorship of Franky and Iceburg. The design focuses on his legacy as a legendary craftsman, utilizing art that emphasizes his sturdy build and historical significance to the series' nautical lore.
The card was designed to function within the game’s strategic framework as a character card, intended to provide synergy for decks centered around the Water 7 or Galley-La Company themes. As with other cards in the OP13 set, the illustration aims to capture the character's stoic yet kind-hearted personality during his final years. Upon its release, it was well-received by players seeking thematic consistency for their collections, functioning both as a functional gameplay piece and a tribute to one of the series' most pivotal supporting characters.
