Where it came from
The Kingdoms of Intrigue pre-release promotional cards were produced to coincide with the fourth expansion of the One Piece Card Game, released in 2023. These cards were distributed during organized play events, serving as a tactical incentive for players to engage with the new card pool before the full set hit the retail market. As a pre-release promotional item, this card features specific aesthetic flourishes, such as a foil-stamped pre-release logo, which differentiates it from the standard version found in booster packs.
The card depicts the character Tom, a central figure in the Water 7 arc of the One Piece series. As a legendary shipwright and mentor, his inclusion in the set underscores the expansion's focus on the themes and characters surrounding the CP9 saga. The design choices prioritize character recognition, adhering to the established visual language of the game’s art direction, which aims to translate Eiichiro Oda's original manga illustrations into a functional, clean, and tournament-ready card format.
