Stadium

This card stays in play when you play it. Discard this card if another Stadium card comes into play.

Provenance

Where it came from

Ancient Ruins was released in 2003 as part of the Skyridge expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was the final release produced by Wizards of the Coast before the licensing rights were fully transitioned to The Pokémon Company. As an uncommon Trainer card, it serves as a representative piece of the late-e-Series era, which is distinguished by the unique dot-code strips on the left side of the cards designed to be scanned by the Nintendo e-Reader peripheral.

The card features artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi, a frequent contributor to the early sets who often utilized a clean, digital aesthetic. The design emphasizes the card's function, which allows players to search their deck for specific Stadium cards, reflecting the strategic emphasis of the e-Series period. Skyridge is widely noted by collectors for its relatively limited print run compared to earlier sets, making cards from this series, including this specific uncommon, highly sought after by those documenting the history of the game's transition between publishers.
