Carvanha

Carvanha was released in 2007 as part of the Pokémon Trading Card Game's Secret Wonders expansion. This set served as the fourth installment in the Diamond & Pearl Series, bridging the gap between the initial release of the Sinnoh region games and the subsequent expansions. As a common card, it was designed to be easily accessible to players, reflecting the game's intent to build out the environment with standard aquatic species that players would frequently encounter while traversing the game's water-based routes.

The card features an illustration by Midori Harada, an artist well-regarded for her long-standing contributions to the Pokémon TCG throughout the 2000s. Her design emphasizes the aggressive, sharp-toothed nature of the Carvanha species, rendered in a style consistent with the vibrant and dynamic aesthetic that defined the Diamond & Pearl era. Like other common cards of the time, the illustration focuses on capturing the essence of the creature in its natural habitat, providing a foundational experience for players building decks with darkness-type energy mechanics.
